Caves

  • THOSEGHAR :-
    This cave is located 25-30 Km away from satara. It is situated between the first phases of a waterfall flowing above it. The route to the caves and waterfall is difficult and risky and therefore closed by the authorities.


  • PAMGHAL (SAJJANGHAD) :-
    This place is located at Eastern side of famous fort Sajjangad, which is about 17 km away from Satara. It is a valley at about 5-7 meter deep, where the famous saint Shri. Ramdas Swami used to meditate for hours. Well known for its peace and tranquility, this place is surrounded by picturesque view of Parali. This place is being worshiped by the swami’s deciples from years.


  • MORAGHAR :-
    Morghar caves are the biggest and longest caves found in District of Satara, which is at 25 to 30 km from Satara. This widely spread caves have presence of animals taking shelter and is comprised of network of narrow roads and paths within it.


  • VASOTA :-
    This cave is situated within the protected area of Koyna wildlife Sanctuary. With prior permission of Forest Department, one can take stay here at the Forest Department’s camp office, situated at its base. This place is difficult to reach and declared as protected forest. This is a peaceful place, not for fun and frolic.


  • WAJRAI :-
    This cave is situated on the top of second phase of Wajrai waterfall second layer of wajarai waterfalls which is situated at Kas- 25 km away from Satara. This is a huge cave, which can accommodate about 100- 150 people at a time.


  • SHIVPETHESHWAR :-
    This place is located on the Satara Kas road at 15 km from Satara and has Petri village at its base. Situated on a height, this place is a centre for spiritual, mythological significance and people come here for prolonged meditation.


  • MORGHAR :-

  • RAJAPURI :-
    These are two caves located at village Rajapuri, which is 25 km away from Satara. Both the caves huge in length and depth, the right cave has about 4 to 5 meter deep natural water oozing through internal springs. At times some wild animals can be seen wandering nearby the caves.


  • NANDGIRI (KALYANGHAD) :-
    Kalyangad Fort also known as Nandhgiri is situated on the eastern side of Satara There are two caves located on the way to Nandgiri fort here. The Lower cave is made of beautiful carvings on its wall, while the upper cave there lies a temple of Shi Datta & Jain. In order to reach these caves one has to pass through water.


  • HELWAK :-
    This cave is located on the south side of Patan Koyananagar road amidst dense forest and surrounded by natural beauty. A very peaceful and divine place used for meditation in ancient times. Waterfall can be seen in monsoon.
