Famous Places

• CHALKEWADI KUSAWADE :-
  This spot is at vankusawade, about 30 km away from Satara. One can see big stretch of Plateau covered with lots of wind mills spread across it. In addition the Koyana dam here gives beautiful and spectacular look.



• PARALI :-
  This is a temple situated at the base of Sajjangad, about 15km from Satara. The temple has ancient sculpture and decorated with beautiful stone carving similar to the temple in Khajuraho.



• PATHESHWAR :-
  This is a holy place situated on a hill about 15km away from Satara. To reach here one has to take the sparse forest route. Famous for various types of Shiv Lings, believed to be 1 million in number.



• JARDESHAWAR :-
  This place is well known for the Maruti temple which is situated on the hill which is about 400 & 500 meters height and 15 to 20 km from Satara. There are three routes to reach here.



• MERULING :-
  Meru in Sanskrit means mountain and ling means lord Shiva. As its name suggests Meruling is a famous Shiva temple on the mountain, located at 30 km from Satara. One can reach here via dhavadasi which is 20km away from Satara and further 1 and ½ to 2 hours walk from there. Another route is through Anewadi by road. There are total three routes to reach this place, all run though sparse jungle. This place is famous for the huge balancing rocks, narrated in the religious Hindu Epic “The Mahabharata”.



• NARAYAN MAHARAJ MATHA :-
  Recently found religious tourist destination, this place has a matha about 45 km away from Satara and is surrounded by Shivsagar lake. Also famous for the lord Shiva temple in the caves and near from popular boating Places Like Bamnoli & Tapola.



• YEVTESHWAR :-
  This place is Located about 6 km from Satara. Situated on Satara Kas road, this place has ancient lord Shiva temple. From here one can see an eye catching scene of Kanehare dam & Satara city.
